Iran condemns terrorist blasts in Afghanistan

TEHRAN, Aug. 09 (MNA) – Iran’s FM spokeswoman has condemned serial terrorist blasts which rocked Kabul on Friday.

Marzieh Afkham told reporters that Islamic Republic of Iran believed terrorism as a common threat to all countries; “Terrorism has always sought cruel and inhuman objectives; we strongly condemn recent blasts in Kabul; these events clearly indicated that terrorism would not spare even the most horrible actions to justify their objectives,” Afkham told reporters, offering condolences to Afghan government and people for the death of victims.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, in line with the firm belief in condemning any kind of terrorism as a common enemy for humanity, announced its willingness to cooperate in fighting this common threat in regional and international fields,” she said.

On Friday, a series of suicide attacks hit Kabul’s Shah Shaheed neighborhood, killing 15 people and wounding hundreds, nearly all of them civilians, according to senior Afghan officials. Taliban had reportedly taken responsibility in some of these attacks, but Shah Shaheed blast has gone still unclaimed.
